Please be advised that Information Services and Technology will be performing maintenance on the Corporate Netware System (CNS) on Sunday May 27th between 8:30 P.M. and 11:30 P.M.

During the maintenance window users will not be able to log into the Corporate Netware System (CNS) or be able to access data on the network drives such as your H: drive. Netstorage and FTP will also be unavailable during the maintenance period.

This notice is addressed to users of the IST grid machines grid01 through grid10. You may also have received this notice if you are a user of similar IST compute resources.

The group of computer resources known as grid01 through grid10 have now reached the end of their useful life. Two nodes (grid05 and grid10) have already failed and will not be repaired, and the remainder will be discontinued on Monday June 4th, 2012.

Users of the Linux nodes (grid06 through grid09) are redirected to the “cc” nodes (cc01 through cc04). Users of the Solaris nodes (grid01 through grid04) are redirected to the login servers “merak”, “mira”, and “toliman”.

It is IST’s intention to add additional units to the “cc” group of research computing resources during 2012.

1) The UNIX login server Antares will be unavailable from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, May 27 for a required upgrade.

2) FAST will be unavailable on Sunday, May 27 from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.

This service maintenance will impact all telephone services on both U of M campuses.

Telephone services that will be impacted are:

No 911 service from a university phone
No 555 service
No local calls
No long distance calls
No voicemail calls
No internal calls on campus
Code Blue stations will not work
Elavator emergency phone will not work
Panic alarms may experience periodic outages

In the case of an emergency please 911 from a CELLULAR phone.
For non-emergency assistance please call University of Manitoba Security at 269-3363 from a CELLULAR phone.
