Increase Textbook Reading Comprehension by Using SQ3R

Read through this short tutorial from Virginia Tech and learn how you can use SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) to increase your reading comprehension.

Survey: Browse over the textbook chapter before reading

Question: Ask yourself questions about the passage as your are reading through it. Look at the headings and make questions out of them. Discover the answer to your questions as you read through the chapter.

Read: As you read, look for the answers to your questions.

Recite: State what you have learned from a passage.

Review: Can you answer  all of your questions you’ve created? If not, you may have to re-read over parts of your chapter.
